Give Me A Break

Your attitude is breaking me,
How much am I to take?
I cannot stand another fight,
Another word of hate.

I listen and I ponder but
I cannot find a clue,
That helps me to uncover
Just what eats away at you.

It rushes down like lightening bolts,
And hits me with a crash;
The words are twisted 'round about,
The same again, re-hashed.

We've all had crosses that we bear,
We've all had times of strife,
But why must we re-live again,
Your bitterness in life?

I want to be at peace within,
I want to heal and grow,
But how can we move forward when
You will not let it go?

One moment I hear words of praise,
The next I'm torn to shreds,
Why is it that it's always me,
Who's left to make amends?

The anger that evolves from you,
Is paranoid at best,
It ravages the all of you,
And puts us to the test.

The world is not against you,
Life is what we make of it,
And if you can't control your thoughts,
You'll lose yourself in it.

I'm begging you, let down your guard,
Let peacefulness prevail,
For I can't take much more of this,
I'm tired ... I'm weak ... I'm frail.

/Kit McCallum

PS. I'm fine.

Oh, Kit, I can relate and wish there was an easy answer. Why does it have to get this bad before we can see that we have changed as much as we can and yet it isn't enough for them?  You have to know when enough is enough!! Lots of hugs, ME

If I didn't know better, I'd think these words you so elequently chose, came from my wife. (But, she also forgives me, often.)

It's not easy living with a negative attitude, but who knew that could be said so beautifully?  Very nice!

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I glad YOU got that off MY chest.   Wonderful write my friend and one that I think most if not all of us can relate to.  Gives me a thought for your next challenge but I need some time to think of the details of it so for now I will "GIVE YOU A BREAK"

~Doreen:  Thanks Doreen (and thanks for the other note, LOL!) Much appreciated!

~Kathleen: Thank you for the sweet thoughts Kathleen!

~Mother_Earth: Thank you for the hugs and the  understanding Mother_Earth, much appreciated!

~Melton: Yes, forgiving is a wonderful thing Melton (and wives do a lot of that, LOL!

~Elizabeth: You have a "chip" Elizabeth? Naaaah, now way, you're too sweet! Thanks for the kind words!

~Paula:  So true Paula ... I guess that's why I write ... get it out, and move on, it's the only way, thank you!

~Kcsgrama: A negative attitude can be so disheartening some days ... even the perpetually cheery get brought down by it. Thanks for understanding kcsgrama!

~Ethan_Halo:  I think it probably goes for a few people and situations ... I promise to stop peeking in other's windows, LOL!

~EagleOne:  Thanks EagleOne ... I'm glad you enjoyed, and it's OK ... I'm fine!

~Nan: A little too universal unfortunately Nan ... but life can't all be perfect (darn-who said that?). Just a little bump in the road, I'm fine!

~Karilea: LOL ... There's some fact in this one, but I'm fine ... and thank you for the hugs!

~Suthern: ROFL ... too bad someone doesn't hand out new scripts on life once in a while when the old complaints have run their course .. thanks Suthern!

~Kethry:  Thanks for the hugs and the kind words Kethry, much appreciated!

~Mark: LOL ... off "your" chest eh? I guess a few of us can relate (sorry, LOL) I'm going on vacation shortly Mark, so that should give you a while to think up a good one to welcome me home and jumpstart my brain, I'll need it. I'll be gone for 2 wks beginning this weekend (that said, now I'm scared)!

~Balladeer: LOL ... Bruno will have to wait Michael, but if I need him in the future, I'll know where to call!    Thanks for the offer, much appreciated!

~Elizabeth:  LOL ... I already did, all's well!

~Denise:  I'm not responsible for repercussions if you send it Denise, LOL! Thanks for enjoying!

Much appreciation to all,
/Kit
