inspired by "The Prince of Tides"

to be another's keeper
of anamnesis
to call back the good in what
he or she is
then watch the tears
flow down the window's pane
mirroring the pain
to think ~
no, go not there, not again

where only water's edge held the edge
in liquid hope
to therein cope
until lack of breath
sped them toward the light

to hold a phone
this line of hope
remote of course
cordless, no real line
just the passions
crossing the miles
decreasing smiles

scars
and scarring
which occurred
left this chasm of unassured
but he pretends
to be assured and reassures those unsure

anger, anger, anger held
criss-crossing lines that meld
till no more is there a memory
but he was a brother to his sister, see
and held her hopes
in her poetry

tidal waves are calling him back
they called her too, even more,
but she lacked
a strength of soul for
it was lost you see
in her lines of poetry

she wasn't who
she wanted to be

so, this story talks to me
of where art is,
where it should be
and much of life is as I see
in the art of poetry

and you may
tidal wave me in

Wow Karilea, you are on a roll with your poetry, you have penned some real gems this week. I've read this twice, I had to do so, to let it all sink in.  You have a unique way with words.  I saw the movie, and this is a creative twist, all your own.

Take care,
Melissa

Thank you Melissa....this was my interpretation of the movie....even though it came out years ago....this weekend was my first opportunity to watch it, but I'm afraid I do not do the poem justice, as I had numerous interruptions....

ah well....

thank you for reading.

A great movie - and a great poem - and all I can say is "you're far too humble"

Love it.

You've convinced me I ought to read the book or watch the movie one of these days.

"and you may tidal wave me in"

Wow! Kari so wonderfully appropriate and so impassioned! I was washed away by its flow.

Kari love, this is one of your utterly perfect pieces. How can you think you don't do it justice love, this is surely one of the best writes ever. You have written this so well that I can see the movie playing again in my head. Such a wonder you are love, and this is just perfect.
Thank you for this dear heart it is perfect
