A Prison of Love

Imprisoned in a cell of circumstance,
And shackled by these bonds of cruel restraint,
Denied the very essence of romance,
To live with no recourse and no complaint.
Each day anew to face futility,
Each night an endless stream of haunted hours,
Yet memories may grant humility,
While enmity our strength and love devour.
My sentence served, now grant a sweet release,
And let this harsh confinement reach its end,
Repressive loneliness replaced with peace,
As freedom with her presence soft descends.

Though chained in desperation endlessly,
Rejoice in my redemption fervently.

ahhhh D2 ..you just make this look so easy...
very cool write...
unique vocab choices add to this sonnets pleasures ...
as does your so well expressed conflict.
a fellow poet and I were discussing sonnets lastnight and reading the "rules" and I was as always, overwhelmed by them ...
You and the above mentioned Mr. Mike make these look like second skin....
I envy it ... but its way cool
