Friends Still? Can we be friends please still? Why does this drain my will? I want to recall friendly touch To feel friends warmth so much I miss having you to talk to me And miss having your soul to see Or do the memories linger on? Will I ever hear another song? What lesson did betrayal show? Tell me for I fear I’ll never know Don’t you miss the smiles? I do! And your laughter I miss that too Why did you have to do that? Treat my heart like an old mat Wiping your feet trampling me Didn’t my tears you ever see I feel as if all my dreams died Killed by your lips when you lied Will I ever stop wanting you? Or hoping we weren’t through Two wrongs don’t make a right This shouldn’t have been a fight We could still be friends I know Our river could continue to flow Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |
