This is simply about my first date with my wife when I was just 16....

First Date
By WhiteKnight

Nervous, anxious,
Apprehensive too,
I am all these things as I think of you.

We had never met before,
So could not explore,
What we felt that day.
We clearly saw the way,
To another day,
Of happiness and joy.

Upon that day we had much fun,
I did not have these feelings then.
Just joy and happiness,
And excitement too.
Happy to be with one like you

At the end of the day,
We could no longer play,
So home you went.
I wished I could stay.

I knew what I wanted to say,
That day.
I wanted so much to ask,
I wanted so much to bask,
To bask in the love I'd found.

I did not ask,
For you offered to me,
The thing I wanted most in life.
It made me so euphoric to know,
That you would let me show,
Show how much I wanted to see you again.

It was the happiest moment of my life,
When I heard you say,
"Here is my number, call me this very day"
Home I flew,
Just so I could be on the phone with you.

We talked till first light,
Made our first date that night.
Now I worried I'd be late for that very date,
As I hurried out the door,
I saw,
The rose in the garden,
So beautiful,
So fine,
So red like wine.

I stopped in my tracks,
I looked at that rose,
I thought of you.
I brought that rose with me,
Just to see,
To see if it could compare,
To the beauty of you.

I knocked upon your door,
When you answered I almost dropped it to the floor,
For the rose could not compare,
To the beauty standing there.

As I handed you the rose,
You smiled.
A smile that I will remember always,
A smile just for me,
Don’t you see?

I took you in my car,
We went so far.
At dinner you ordered the same as I,
We ate not a bite,
For food could not fill the hunger we felt,
Could not quench the thirst we had that night.

We talked away the light,
We talked into the night.
As we stepped outside,
I looked up at the sky.
I saw the twinkling of the stars,
I turned to look at you,
Then you looked at me.
I could see the twinkling in your eyes
A twinkling just for me.

If she [and I assume so] shares these passions with you...this marriage will last a long, long time!  I enjoyed the read!

This is such a tribute to that lucky lady!  Don't ever let the romance go out of your every day life.  Hugs,  ME

Wow didn't it feel great. I remember that first date at 16. That was 32 years ago. I was so excited and scared at the same time. I married that fellow and have that same excited scared feeling 30 years later.
