You Give

A friend you are to me
You listen but do not judge
Whenever I feel troubled
And life becomes too much
When I'm happy, my joy you are sharing
And you see through my misery
You give understanding

A puzzle you are to me
I give little, you give so much
I wonder just where we will go
You've no answer, or do you not care?
You go with the tide as it flows
Our path may be thorny or fair
You give comfort

So when dark or sad times befall me
I will have you by my side
In my mind's eye you let nothing annoy
I call on your spirit to guide me
Out of sight still my pain you alloy
See me laughing it's you there inside me
You give joy

No lover could ever surpass you
Bring me ever to heights such as these
In a sharing of passion I'm seized
To thank you I'm down on my knees
You are making me feel alive now
As my temp rises forty degrees
You give love.

So what can I say but "I love you"
My heart rests in your very hands
You give and you never ask of me
Anything that I cannot return
You've awakened a spirit within me
And fire - by your simple touch
I wonder what you see in me.

So we'll join in life's exploration
Where you and I go hand in hand
I'm never subject to consternation
We're joined in love in this land
Now sing and dance without strife
Joined at the hip on this sand
We sway to the music of life

Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes.

This friend that you talk to
is your friend that you walk to
in your dreams
as it seems

would that we all could have friends such as these...

well done, Mr. Yeats....

What I like so much about your writings is all the feeling that you share. May your dance never end.

ah Bill...and isn't that what friendship and love is all about?  You must give to her a measure of what she gives to you, me thinks.

Everyone-
there's nothing I'd like more than to write individual replies - but with precious little time online - I really need to read and reply to more of YOUR posts - So please let this 'blanket' thanks suffice - so I can appreciate you

These are wonderful gifts, the very best kind, and certainly a loving heart will reciprocate.  I feel the truth in these lines, sir.

To love another person is to see the face of God.
