  The Brew

Many days have emptied
some frothy with delight
into life's glass of time
some black like darkest night

In the color's swizzle
they swirl change and blend
fall into the bottom
and others light do send

To pasteurize the brew
does takes a lot of time
for the changing color
to be the perfect wine

A turn or two for pain
and four or five for love
each year death stirs a few
add laughter’s sweetened glove

For temperature that’s cold
you must be warm of heart
and feel the pain in depth
to keep the wisest part

To life I drink this brew
to know the bitter feast
then when my hunger calls
the mix will bring me peace

Martie, of a past, I would say, "she is my twin"...

of the now...I say...

she knows from where, within....

I guess this means ... if we're thankful, kind, caring and persevering ... we'll improve with age?
Sort of reminds me of the passions family,
in a way

Yes, through time, we continue to learn, developing and growing wiser through the years, and learning to love so much. Excellent poem, my friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Karilea--what a lovely thought

Rex Allen--Did I say that?  Sounds like a good prescription for living.

Noah--Thanks for reading and for the nice reply.

Janet--This rhyme is not devine...it takes alot of time.

Life is an acquired taste for sure
and you hold it with much allure
Take you time
when seeking rhyme
It shall always come
long before you succumb.

Lovely write my friend.  Not only does it have the famous Martie mastery in it but you have tossed out ONCE again a little brew of life's lessons for us.

ps.......saving your other one for tonight's snack as they say.

Martie~

To sup a cup
of this brew
is to find
a taste of you !

'laughter’s sweetened glove'

You leave a lingering taste of life's brew
upon the lips of the thirsty poet.
I am quenched with your thoughts.
*Hugs*
