The Shores of Alone

Too little, too late
the passing nod he gives me
as though I were never special
at all.

His words of nothing
designed to placate
have finally been realized
as not enough.

Not nearly.

Did his intent twist
into meaningless lies?
Or was it me all along
imagining love that never was?

Either way, the point is moot
it's far too little
and I am done
before it's too late....

it's always good to know before you reach that point. . .

wonderful Sandra. . .

Better to find out before you commit yourself too deeply than after.  Sorry to see the sadness in this one but it also holds a light of hope that you are not wasting time on something or someone that doesn't deserve it.   Either way, a wonderful write.

Catalina,
It is he, who it will be too late for. You have a new begnning to explore, and new dreams to capture. And I know you will...
Beautiful writing.

Very fine piece!  I thought perhaps it was going to be cliché because of the common phrase.  However, the way you've woven it, it's quite fine.  Enjoyed the read.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about this pain! I am sorry to see that it all came too little too late. But you will find true love, I know you will, that will replace the pain, and it may just come too little too soon than you expected, which we'd just love to see too. Excellent poem, my friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Great writing, Sandra! It's very liberating when you finally realize that you are worth more than settling for crumbs from the table......settle for nothing less than the feast!!
