Sixty-plus years old and we got a new toy
He said we really needed this machine
Think of the fun we can have, oh boy
I've heard that line before, you know what I mean

A friend, a computer wizzard
And we went to town to just look
Well, we came home with a truck load
Everything explained in the book

Now, I don't know how to work an elictric typewriter
Dear husband didn't know much more
But the friend said no problem for a golden ager
Computers are useful and fun for sure

Our winter home, a 5th wheel trailer
Became more crowded, the table an office
I learned a new language, like that of a sailer
Trying to get acquainted with that screen-face

The friend said "you can't hurt it
So play and try new things each day"
I wrote all the instructions down bit by bit
And hoped that screen-face was here to stay

WRONG..one day I pressed the wrong button
I heard voices, but saw a black screen
No arrow to show me what is off or on
I've killed my computer now nothing can be seen

A call to my friend and told him my tale
He can't believe it, but won't ever say again
Go ahead and play, you can't hurt it my pal
No I killed it and have to live with this sin

I think all computers should come with a special book of cyber prayers for times like these and then some magic wizard to cast a spell of "NEVER FAIL" software.  Wonderful write and I think we can all relate to this one quite well at some point or another.  Love your humor.

Thanks, Mark, but it wasn't very funny when it happened!  All I heard was " what did you do now?"  Hugs,  ME

This was great, Mother Earth!  I hate it when my kids look at me as if I were stupid, or my cyber friends say "I know I could fix it if I were there."  Happens to all of us, but you will learn, faster than you can imagine.

If only you knew what you did.  You could the 'reason it happened' is so I could help others prevent it happening to them.  You know the miracle outcome from the malady.  I know all too well it's not a funny thing at all.  I become a basket case when I lose things due to incompatibility.  I mean a spouse is one thing, but the computer!  Aaaaaaaaaack! Ok now that I`ve cleared the tears of laughter from my eyes.
This is something that I know about all to well.
I have never seen it as funny until reading this.
Very Nice and thanks for the laughs from both me and my wife.

kcsgrandma: three years of learning, but then I sleep and have to be re-trained! Thanks

VAS: LOL.. Boy, if that ain't the truth!!

Butterfly, my kid, I was being nice! and taking all the blame!! You did good. Love 'ya

bslicker: but what do you do when you can't explain what went wrong when you pressed that gizmo?

Janet Marie: my Butterfly-teacher is too far away to help much. But then she will write and says- push this, then that, thenBLACK again!  I am bad at following orders.  Hugs

Kethry: ain't it the truth!!

Mr.Magoo: glad we can all laugh now.  Thanks

This all started because of the poem and announcement from Poet deVine about the changes and moves in the Forum and Alley (where ever they are ). I am afraid to look!
