Paint me as a bad guy - give it all that you can give
Say that I'm a sad guy who does not deserve to live
Say that I'm responsible for everything that's wrong
Paint me as a bad guy and be sure to make it strong.

Treat me like a soccer ball or football - take your pick.
Let your foot fly forward with a swift, resounding kick.
Let me know my worthlessness is based on real fact
Paint me as a bad guy with your righteousness intact.

Al Capone was just a piker - I'm the enemy
Hell's Angels nothing more than bikers when compared to me
Paint that bullseye on my back and let your arrows fly
Paint me a a bad guy - who deserves it more than I?

Spread my sins out on the table - serve them up for lunch
Tell me  how pure evil seeps out from me as you munch
Stick that dagger in my back and twist it, if you dare
Paint me as a bad guy....you know, I don't really care...

And then do the same to me.

Well expressed Balladeer, I know that I've had days like this.

YEAH RIGHT!!!  If your the bad guy then I am already burning in hell.
Powerful write sir.
If you dont mind having one of the ten most wanted(and Im not talking in a good way)
riding shotgun then I'll be happy to ignore them with ya.
It seems I'm doing a lot of that these days as it is, but at least I'm getting a good chuckle or two from all the energy expended.
SO VERY glad to see you back. I could use one of your famous ballads right about now.

SweetBalladeer~

I saw the 'veiled' targets on your back
And understand the pain
Of knowing someone finds pleasure in
Attempting to besmirch your name

But, sweetheart let me tell you
They missed you by a mile
With failed attempts to 'paint you bad'
I read them - and I smile

For upon your targeted canvas
True friends can plainly see
Only the glowing colors from
The palette of truth and reality

Within the flaming arrows
There is a little trick
And those who would throw 'paint' at you
Had better duck real quick

For it has been said
What 'goes around - comes around'
I believe that it's true
When one throws a little dirt-they lose a little ground

For this I know
And you can bet
The 'shooting' isn't over
At least not yet

With this in mind
I offer you - my friendship intact
You look 'em straight in the eye
I got your back !

*Hugs*, my friend
'that's what friends are for'

Well, you are absolutely right.  The only way to deal with people like that is to ignore them!  Gossip does nothing but hurt people, and we, as poets, of all people, should know that!  Great poem, Balladeer!

How could I paint you bad
when you're wearing white
how could anyone paint you bad at all
when you act as shining knight
how could anyone use your back
to place those arrows in
no it must be their lack
t'would be a mortal sin
if anyone paints you bad
just you let me know
I'll hurry to your defence
because I need you so.

Not Bad! No way! Uh UH! But naughty theres a nice kettle of fish..Good to see you back

The poem was great but the subject unsettling. I hope they try to use a boomerang. That'll knock their brains in place.
Love you

Once again I try to read responses to find out what is going on when someone who writes mostly of loving is writing something quite opposite..not understanding if this is real or a well emotioned poem..I offer this.....I have felt the  same at many times, and some days I can let it sweep over me and some days it seeps instead into my pores...everyone says.."and it too shall pass"...well as the saying goes...

huggzz, Dear One...and may this day  shine it's lightside upon you...

'Deer love, how could anyone do that, that is insufferable, oh no no no, you are not a bad guy. I always see you as the good guy, white hat, and white horse like they always used to have in those Saturday morning pictures. Or the 'milky bar kid' at the very least.

And this is a fantastic and wonderful piece from you, and I hope whoever is the wicked one, will run off with their tail between their legs.

Excellantly put, 'Deer

Funny, I was just talking about this concept with a friend, (Where is STAN? anyway?) but someone once told me that people do err, thinking of energy as positive or negative, that we should think of it as active or receptive.  Energy just IS...it is how we utilize it that personifies US...so there's my two cents...I ante'd.

If "bad guy" was defined as follows

BAD GUY ne who has a caring heart and truly expresses his concern for others.

Then I would see you as the bad guy of the year.
Spoken from what I`ve read in you replies as well as your poetry.
Keep your head up and your heart open.

If I'm going to paint you
It could take quite a while
But with luck, we both might end up
Wearing quite a smile.
For I'm not good with brushes
But a lipstick would do fine
I'd apply it smooch by smooch -
Two coats, if you wouldn't mind? *G*

Hmmm... I do wonder if this rant is inspired by real events or you just know women have a fondness for bad guys... *G* Either way, the poem is great!

to do that with you my friend
so hope that you'll understand
