I am not made of rock
nor am I  made of stone
I cry tears like any other
I fear being alone.

Sands of time beat upon me
some days my heart bleeds
dripping pain mixed with love
beating steadily, having needs.

I am but a blooming flower
waiting past a winter freeze
for the sun to warm my petals
blowing in a summer breeze.

I have weathered storms of life
survived  to see skies of blue
my heart has not turned to stone
it beats with love~ for you.

Thank you so much Denise, I appreciate it. This was one of those poems that was written more about the way I felt at the time I wrote it than it was for striving for poetic form or style.  It just felt right.   Hugs. *s*

Writing how you are feeling at the time makes for some of the best poetry that there is, in my opinion! Hugs to you too!

You have written your heart here (and coincidentally maybe a bit of mine, too), and although I see nothing to complain about in the form, it loses its importance when you show those feelings so well.

This is a very beautiful penning with a tremendous spilling of your heart in it's ink.  Loved the devotion it conveys.

KCG, thank you very much.  The heart tells the stories.....

Mark, thank you kind friend.  There have been many storms I thought would never end,
and then the sun does shine again.....this time the sun shines brighter than ever.  *s*
Thanks so much.

'Sands of time beat upon me

'my heart has not turned to stone

I absolutely love these lines, Gentle Spirit!  Hauntingly familiar sentiments you've penned here.  Great work!

I like this: -

"I am not made of rock

I fear being alone."

A great poem!
