My Mother And I

There are two hearts that our God made from just one
And now stands before him but what little girls become
The world takes us places we never knew we could be
And gives much light to those who are willing to see...

So, the world sees myself as a young soul wanting to fly
Ambitious enough to try and dance across these skies
I am young to the touch and to the eyes I am free
And nothing hurts to the physical young woman in me...

For I can run, jump and play all through the day
I'm never tired for life keeps oldness away
I'm warm and rich to what God gave me in life
And always I'm warm beneath the moon at night...

So, the world sees my mother an old soul waiting to fly
But they know she'll never make it across that sky
She is old to the touch and to the eyes she's free
And exactly the ending to this moment where I'll someday be...

For she can't run, jump or play all through the day
For the young at heart is exactly where her emotions stay
She's cold and poor to what's a luxury in life
And she freezes beneath that moon each night...

The world sees the two in the ways we've just seen
But only we know the differences in what each other dreams
And though we both walk completely two different miles
Only one of us carries the word in heart and smiles...

Though some see me and prayed for all I had
Thinking if they were me they'd never look back
And some saw me move like a raging storm
From place to place and to them I had much warmth...

Some saw her and prayed for her to have what I have
Thinking if she had just what others did she'd never look back
And some saw her still move like a raging storm ahead
Because we thought she cried every night in bed...

But that lady wasn't poor at all as they thought
She has more than I do and not a thing bought
For that lady has pain we thought we could see
No...she has so much more than you or me...

I walk in health, I walk in a younger way
But you see, I walk alone each day
She has holes, the hunger, the cold and her past
But she's richer than I for she walks God's path...

I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Yes, she is rich beyond measure. May we all be so rich!

Saunni~
What a lovely, heart-rendered piece.
You've put so much thought into this and
it is just wonderful.
His is the only path to walk.

Don't ever doubt that God loves you and don't ever doubt that you are worthy of that love.  Beautiful penning and expression of your soul and your heart my friend.  You have grown in your poetry in your little time away from us and I am so grateful that you have come back to share it with us.

If you find yourself stranded in a storm
...then reach for my hand and we will play in the puddles together

Saunni, this is so beautiful and how wonderful to know that HE is with us if only we ask.  A great piece of work and a lovely promise.  Thank you for sharing.
