The Real Richard

We have been friends
for more than twenty years,
but I’m still not sure
of the master plan.
He suggests
we should be lovers,
but I disagree,
not because
of his past infidelities,
or that he likes to juggle
several women at once –
I just don’t see us
in those roles.

Now and then
he settles on just one,
as long as she doesn’t demand
too much
or ask to see
the real Richard.

He likes them psycho  -
set on ready to explode
mode,
not surprisingly
his relationships
end with drama,
he is stalked,
abused or
his car set afire.

I picture Richard
speeding along
in his Mercedes
on an L.A. freeway
cell phone held to one ear,
searching for
that next deal
in a woman.

I've been looking for him too...lol

But seriously? If this is from experience?
Sounds like you are the best friend he has...
I would know...I've a few like you, and how they put up with me, I'll never know....

HUGS to you, for being a real friend to the Real Richard.

Corinne,
I guess we all have Richards who are no lionhearts. I liked this one. It was so real.

Hey, Irish Rose!  Nope, this one lives in L.A., but I'm sure there are other folks out there like him!

Serenity, yes this is from real life. I know we'll be friends until we die, I just don't know exactly why. We are so different from each other, yet seem to be able to help each other. Thank you for the hugs, too!

Kethry, thank you - and very clever response!

Seymour, I can't figure the guy out, and I thought he'd change over the years but, he has not.  Still, he is one of my best and longest friends. Thank you!

Thank you, Denise!

Park, you rascal, you!

Evening Corrine,

You do tell it as it is, in a very well written writing. Well done, well done!

"set on ready to explode" - Oh my -your way with words is way beyond my power with them(words) to convey my appreciation. What incredible insight!
