Colors muted,
the storm front gathers against your window,
small specks of water,
scattering against the pane,
softening the pain,
of the alone you feel tonight.

You remember me,
in all the myriad shades I was,
throwing color on you,
tossing love to you,
careless in my ways,
my memory stays in you,
you watch the rain harden,
pushing against the pane,
sounding out your pain,
as you ache alone again tonight.

You see within the rain-slashed darkness,
the moment we were,
the single instant
we caught each others breath,
left smeared kisses on linen sheets,
the rain is a steady drumming,
against the pane,
and the pain in you makes small sounds escape your throat,
your alone becomes a physical sensation,
leaving you weeping on your knees,
your alone calling from the whipping trees,
I flash in your eyes with the lightening.

You listen to the storm your life's become,
I was the only one who could see through you,
see to you,
I held the gentle beast in you,
and crooned love,
and made love,
and now the rain is easing,
scattered droplets teasing against the pane,
running slowly through your pain,
you listen for me in the storm,
but I'm fading,
the memory fading,
the storm over
over love.

Welcome to Passions and thank you for sharing this beautiful creation from your pen and heart.  It is wonderfully written and holds much emotion behind it that I am sure alot (if not all) of us can relate to.  I look forward to reading many more of your works in the future.
