I Will Wait For You

for a very little child, impatience can be great
"Daddy, come home soon, don't you dare be lateā€¦"
for waiting is a quiet art, one that some can master
but those that can't or won't, will forever await disaster

then as a young wife, impatience can be grating
"honey, come home soon" can be used as baiting
for waiting is an art, one that some can master
but those that can't, will forever await disaster

as a mother of young teens, impatience can by trying
"kids, come home safe," 'tho some are out there dying
then waiting is an art, one that some can master
but those that can't or won't, forever await disaster

when a woman is losing a mate, impatience can be fearful
"darling, I must let you go" the times they come so tearful
waiting then becomes an art, one that some may master
but those that won't or can't, will forever await disaster

for the person who awaits a love, a love for all life long
will know the moment when it's right, they will hear the song
so waiting then becomes the art, that some alone will master
and that person smiles, and waits, and never courts disaster

so call me foolish if you will, but know I have patience flowing
as when I see that one true love, you'll know my heart is glowing

Hi SunShine,

"Oh" I have had my share of waiting, and had to learn patience one of those harder things to grasp in life I would say, this is a beauty SunShine really enjoyed thank you.

Love, Cerenity

So -
If patience is a virtue -
I have not been so virtuous !

Thoughtful writing, love.

Oh, Karilea, yes, indeed, this is a treasure!    All should take heed to your wonderful words.  Heck, even I will    I must admit, even though I am in my early twenties, I've been very impatient with fate waiting for my soulmate to come along, but, maybe, now I'll wait, not forcing love, and i'll "know the moment when it's right, (and) hear the song."

Take care,
Melissa

Kari love, will I ever learn the art, I don't know, but I think not, but just once, I wish that I could wait quietly and patiently. Wonderful piece from you love, utterly wonderful.

Sunshine, such good advice, truly beautiful!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

Sunshine, you all are going to convince me that rhyme is good, and that is a good thing.

Gary
well, I actually need less convincing than that. This one could be studied.

What a hard problem to conquer! But it can be done, one has to focus on the reasons for needing to be patient.......wonderful trip through the average person's life Karilea... I like this verse especially!

for the person who awaits a love, a love for all life long
will know the moment when it's right, they will hear the song
so waiting then becomes the art, that some alone will master
and that person smiles, and waits, and never courts disaster

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.
