Creek Side

Meet me creek side
by the black valley oaks,
trail the path of pines
at Blue Ravine,
where the fault lines
have cut a chasm.

On a blanket of leaves
a repast for two,
a cool libation -
late harvest grapes,
sweet offerings
to tease tussling tongues.

A private valley
and hillside scapes,
a streaming art song
composed by ear,
waiting for you
if you will only
come creek side,
my dear.

It's a pleasure to read a piece so exquisite and not just splashed up there on the page!
Corinne, this is a fine work and I am so priviliged to be able to read this.

Well, I'll be waiting on the bank, by a fire with a guitar.

This is delightful!   The second stanza is my favorite, and "tussling tongues" is exceptionally amazing.
Nice to see ya!

How did I miss one of yours.  I am so glad to see this one pop up in front of my eyes as I would have hated to miss it.  You have not lost one bit of power or beauty in your poems and this is one that shows that well.  Wonderful read as all of yours are. BTW Did you ever get the Humvee?

California here I come - whooo eeee - love this - love that word too: 'tussled' too cool.
Lovely Baccanal you propose -
my guitar's lousy - settle for a small keyboard?
