When Sorrow Comes To Lay

~*Marge Tindal*~

When sorrow comes to lay across the heart,
it does so without invitation.
It intrudes and drapes the room in quaking sobs.
Shaking to the very core of me, I cry out for it to go.
Uninvited, it invades in shades of gray,
permeating my very soul with a sadness I don't want to know.
If tears could drown it,
it would be dead.
I know there is a light out there -
Please, someone help me open the curtain
so that I might see the light again.

Let me plant a flower where sorrow has been.
A reminder that all things flourish in the light of knowing,
I am not alone.

Marge, this is wonderfully done, but so sad. I hope your sadness turns to smiles soon.

Even a darker poem from you is penned beautifully!  Excellent flow and theme.  No, you are never alone, light will find it's way to you again. And, boy, do I ever relate to your words, but, now I also take heed to your wise lines at the end.

Take care,
Melissa

What an incredible description of sorrow... an uninvited visitor that overwhelms your life and refuses to drown even when deluged by tears. This beautiful poem has a depth of understanding that I fear is drawn from experience, not imagination... so I can only assure you... you're not alone.

Margie-girl ... it tis so rare we see a poem like this from your pen ...
but you so sincerely express the sadness that we all feel at one time or another ...
whether you pen this for someone else or to express your own emotions, as you can see you wrote it so well you've touched many.
take care sweet poet
ya know we all love ya here ...
and your last line says what we all share here as well.
love to ya

Friends, please know that I feel your hugs and your prayers.

My son, David and his lovely wife, Kim
have lost the baby they were expecting
and it has touched us deeply.

So dearly I feel the friendships.
Please keep them in your prayers.
Bless you.

When friends catch and hold your tears -
the sorrow is diluted.
Bless each of you for your thoughts.
I know I am not alone.
There is a great light shining.

Oh Marge, I'm so sorry to hear about this. Your poem is a beautiful reminder that, although sorrow may touch our lives, we can move on and still remember. Your family will be in my prayers.

Your words are gripping, well felt.  I once heard a quote that went something like this, "Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers."  (Don't remember who said it.)  Anyway, your poem reminded me of that...finding beauty where there is pain.
