Of Pearls to Kisses

10,696 days
give or take another few,
together, once forever thought
my life to be, spent shared with you...

Over now, it won't take long
to dissipate what once had been.
90 days could be the length,
if all is "all", the feel within.

Amazing how so little means
can take away, and steal a life.
Replacement seems so simple too,
losing self, the title "wife".

What doesn't show, in words I pen
expressioned smile, to outside world.
Too tired, tears have dried their flow,
I wear my future, in necklace pearled.

Each one will represent a day,
each knot that follows, strengthens heart.
Strung together, ivory gift
the pearls of June, new life to start.

Though cultured pearls are fragile-like
in tender hands, they'll hold their own.
Will last the years, times 30 more
each pearl a dream, of pleasures sown.

There'll come a day, when kisses, yours,
will take the place of cultured feel.
I'll wear them proudly, sight unseen
By only two, from loving real.

~Wynter

Nicely penned.  It made me think of some biblical wisdom...Do not cast your pearls before swing.

This to me supports your use of pearls in talking about a right, tender, lasting relationship.  Well done!

When we realize how bright the future can be if we let it then it is easy to see how the reflections of the past can conjure up these feelings.  Wonderful write from beginning to end.

That word was "swine, swine, swine"  hmmmm, just testing, thought maybe someone put a 'g' on my 'e' key.  At least I think you know what I meant anyway.

Wynter, this is sad, but strong of heart. You will be happy in the future, I know it.

Excellent writing here. I loved the metaphor of the string of pearls as your future...made from tears of the past...
loved it. Many hugs here lady!
