Having Been Touched

Having touched me tonight
I want to ask, what is it you find in me
that makes you want to share more...

Once asked this of another,
one of special importance in my life
and the answer was always, "I just do."

Never was that enough for me,
and I wonder if sometimes
that IS all the answer that is needed.

Still I wonder, is it the look in my eyes
when not feeling sad, that reflects the warmth
that I hold, if only someone would reach out
and blanket themselves with it.

Or is it the smile that I can show,
when the world feels right to me
and I am calmly contented with myself
and my surroundings...and you.

Is it my appearance, that draws you to me
although age and circumstance
have begun to take their toll
on how I am mirrored to myself.

Just what is it that brings you to me,
is it the shyness and naiveté that truly
is me, at least when confronted on all "firsts".

Or is the way I can make friends
with anyone, young or old
and carry on a conversation, with ease.

Of all out there to choose from,
and yes it is choice, why me, I often wonder.
What is it that you see in me,
that for some reason, I can't see in myself.

I have never been the cheerleader,
or the prettiest, or the funniest
or the  smartest or the "best"
at anything chosen.

Can it be, that you see into this heart
of mine, the real me and can tell
I am made of goodness and am pure in thought
and gentle in my ways, despite
the fears that sometimes become
my outer layer.

Do I try to rationalize too much, when
all that should be known, is that
you are here, as often as you can be,
beside me, supporting me
with words to smile away my sad,
arming me in hold, kissing away tears,
lips seeking mine, feeling me feeling you...

Sometimes, just sometimes
there are no answers, "things" just ARE
with no explanations.

Why is it then that at all I want to do is "know"...when
all I should do is learn to "accept"...

Being a Libra, I LIKE it when things 'just ARE' !
Cuts down on making a decision !

Wonderfully written, my friend.
