Red Dawn at Oak Harbor

No reservation for the morning ferry
Arise in the dark to get in line
The air is chill but we are merry
Intoxicated without the wine

A week at the vineyard was over now
We’d had our joys, back to the plow
So we sat ‘neath the lights to await the sun
Knowing few others had so much fun

As sun crept up we got a surprise
It turned all blood red right before our eyes
The sky was awash in sanguine hue
And black harbor sea turned wine red too

Silhouetted in this monochrome scene
Boats and pilings moored and serene
As if draped in black to mourn our passing
As gulls started their flight in this view surpassing

Soon the bustle of boarding took our attention
And the color washed out as if I need mention
But was burned in our minds for any and all time
Seal of a vacation wrapped up in rhyme

Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes.

Smiling here...verrrry nicely told, Wilfred...made me feel a bit aglow as I read it. (I LOVE when that happens) Enjoyed the read, m'friend.

Everyone-

Martie spoke of a Photo - I have one - as soon as I can find it - I'll scan and post it. In my humble opinion my words will pale when you see it. Thank you all

Sunshine, Marge, Sunlit Soul-

It's taken me all this time - but I sent a copy of Pic to Nan - Hopefully she will be able to attach it to my poem - so you can see 'literally' what I tried to convey with t
my words
Thank you
