Shattered Golden Circle
1995

First love,  soul mates,
we sliced the wedding cake,
forever could never be,
the golden circle shattered
crushing the anniversary cake,
torn from forever arms
by the snowball that rushed

The ticking clock of time
took your footprints from the sand
washed by years of tears,
no matter,
in the silent place you must remain,
over and over
you return to me in dreams,
free as a butterfly
searching flower to flower
our eyes meet once more,
was the circle really shattered?
I still see the imprint of you
pressing on the small of my finger
as the gold melts,
fading into memories
