Open your ears
I need you to hear me

Open your mind
And try to understand

Open you eyes
"Please would you look at me"

OPen your heart
And feel what I feel

The universal plea, compactly yet effectively done.  I take the minimalist approach often myself.

Very good writing. I have said these things before myself. I can relate.

Nathan, A plea it is. I've encountered it several times...
thanks for the reply!

Krawdad, Thanks again. Sometimes short and sweet is the best way to go.

Richard, Very nice to hear coming from a deeply emotional poet such as yourself.   Nice to hear that others can relate.

I like this...you've touched on needs we all share.  Then the tough part, looking to fulfill that for others, significant, special others.

I had really expected the last line to read:

And feel what I am.

You shook me up and that's likely a good thing.  Don't just leave the reader in the same place they were when they came in.

Short but powerful... I especially love "Please would you look at me!" So many times we don't "see" each other no matter how close we think we look. A heartfelt plea... Love it!

SEA-
Yeah, that's what I like about reading poetry is that I feel I can relate to so much of it and while it also expresses emotions I'm feeling at the present time and am unable to express myself.
VAS-
I think the end reading "and feel what I am" would be very lovely also, but I'm gonna go ahead and leave what I have. Thanks for the feedback. And yes, listening is definitely a need we all share.
Tracie66-Thanks!
Nona-You're right. So many times we focus on our own needs and forget to consider that the other person may be going through the same thing. Thanks for the insight.
Lynn32-Thanks for reading!
Rascalx-True! Very true.
Dgvarner-Me...a poet?!!!? Thanks!
I do love trying! Never knew it could be so much fun and healthy too (emotionally and all )You're the best! Thanks for taking the time!
love ya, Pixydust

PixyDust~
These thoughts are expressed so well.
Nicely portrayed.
