Vanishing Man

A familiar undertow
drags the vanishing man
through a haze of time,
into his own sunken caves
of depression,
caged by clarifying light.

Fragmented sounds snap,
a shutter guard clicks,
images pass by,
brown as sepia.

No rest in his daydreams,
he suffers the present
and craves a past
tense of belonging.

He remembers a family
lifetimes ago,
briefly smiles.

Even wakeful hours
can bring nightmares,
when the sun is wan,
and air fetid,
ghosts rule the day
and simply cannot
be wished
away.

Thought-stimulating words.  Wonderful writing.

Corinne, this is an interesting write, this poem I think really relates to alot of men in this situation longing for that lost family connection.
Nice to see your pen again.

Thank you very much, Poeminister.

Park, thank you, not a lot of time to write these days, I'm afraid.
