He's starting to get restless.
I can see it in his eyes.
And I wonder how long I have before
he hits me with good-bye.

That cowboy of mine, he never lied.
He told me he wouldn't stay.
But I thought I could change his mind
so I loved him anyway.

He loves to ride the rodeo.
He loves to feel reckless and free.
I know he yearns for that Texas sky.
He loves it more than he loves me.

So he's leavin'.

He was only passing through...
went farther east than he had planned.
The only promise that he gave me
was he would stay as long as he can.

If he would only give it time
I know that he would see..
The sunsets are the same here.
He could stay in Tennessee.

But that cowboy of mine is Lubbock born
and Texas has his heart.
He begged me not to fall in love.
He warned me from the start.

Now he's leavin'.

Maybe not today,
but he's leavin'.
I could not make him stay
and now he's leavin'.

I don't regret a day
though he's leavin'.
I'm glad I loved him anyway...
...He's leavin'.

Hello T.A....
It's good to see you again!  And yes, it is hard to love a cowboy, because they are just like a gypsy on a horse.  But that is why they become so much a part of us, isn't it?
We know we can't hold them down.  But we love them, anyway......great write, my friend!!

Write on!

Oh, but we don't ever listen to the 'warning.'  How could we?  And, no, you don't regret a minute of it, either, for some strange reason.
Excellent write, TA.  Love the flow.
