And the day sits there on the outside,
she looks in at my world and sees me
with tears holding back sobs,
little girl sobs,
if my window were open,
a breeze, she would send to comfort
me, this I know. But later she
will yawn with her sunset,
close her lids to the night

I know the night watches me and
I feel his sadness beside me
for the night is nothing without the day,
and he weeps upon my shoulders
I feel the weight of his tears glistening
with love, why can’t the day see
the beauty in his darkness?

Why is she so blind, with so much light?
So silent, with the noises of her living?

I beg you, do not waste your
darkness; night,
let it not leak into day
she does not care for
your beauty.

I need a lullaby
a kiss goodnight
Angel sweet love of my life
Oh, I need this

Each line is prized, with the concluding stanza speaking volumes. Greatly enjoyed!

We surely wouldn't appreciate the day without the night.  Powerful poetry my dear friend, the last stanza was simply incredible.  Keep it up, you Natalie Merchant devotee!

Some live for the day........
I live for the night........
Neither would exist without the other.......
And you put it all together in this wonderful work!!
