Rainy Tuesdays

Rainy Tuesday morning slumber
Overcomes the spirit’s will
Warmth of blanket keeps me under
Spells of tapping on my sill

Puttering raindrops softly rapping
Lazy rhythms on the pane
Sooth my ears while I am napping
To the music of the rain

Getting up is such a struggle
When I hear that lullaby
Plinking plunk just makes me snuggle
Deeper into warm and dry

Would that I could stay forever
In this cozy dreamy bliss
Cradled in the down of feather
Taking in a moment’s wisp

Time won’t stop to wait or ponder
Slothful yawns of sleepy head
Still I lay in warmth and wonder
When to topple out of bed

In dreamy snooze, my mind’s too fizzley
In the sputtering morning mist
Lazy moods are wrought by drizzley
Tuesday mornings just like this

Just pull up the blinds and open the window and lie in bed........yeppers.......that is what I am going to do this Tuesday!!!!!!!!  IF ONLY!!  The thoughts in this and the images are truely beautiful and I am with Nan on your choice of words and I am keeping it also if you don't mind.  Sounds much more pleasing of a word to me.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, my mind is fizzley most of the time, and I make no apologies. I was born with a fizzley mind and will always have a fizzley mind. Excuse me if I keep repeating myself, I just happen to like the word, kind of like "plinking plunk"
THanks for the comments

Liz, I know that a hundred years from now college students are gonna be studying your form and mastery of skill....You my dear are one of the talented few that I have had the chance to read that could touch my heart with every poem I have had the pleasure to read of yours....May your years be long and your words never stop flowing for yours is truly a gift.

it's raining right now and it's 2am (almost) on a tuesday morn.
isn't it ironic...

what a glorious tribute to staying in bed and watching/listening to the rain. i love this.

Yanno...Its a rainy Tuesday here too. Today I was going into a store, and I never carry an umbrella. A man got our of his truck, opened his umbrella, and asked me did I need one. I told him no thanks, that I love the rain. It made him smile. I took my time and walked slowly in it.   Kinda inspiring...This poem and today's event.
Thanks! Wonderfully excellent writing as usual, Elizabeth. You make me feel everything you write.
