Seven Robins in January
Virginia Salter

Seven robins high at rest
each in puffed up russet breast,
harbingers of spring they be,
as the linger in each tree.

Cling they to each barren branch
as I watch in wanton stance
for sweet spring to soon espy
Oh, there it is, right in my eye!

Thank you both!

But, dagnabbit!!!!!  I wish spell check knew I meant "they" and not "the!"

Glad you liked it anyway, and I'm sure you read what I meant to say.

Do you think it's a bit like Ogden Nash in its summation?  He's one of my favorite 'silly' yet brillian poets.
