Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-01-14 04:08 PM

In the Silence

deep in that copse that I traverse
the one of sanctum sanctified peace
silence recently broken
now I find no ease

searching my soul, searching
just to keep the pain from hurting
to give reason to the pause
to find logic in the cause

today is not of long ago
now the bang is only show
to trophy some man's gallery
no, this is not for you or me…

once the cause was just and pure
and the target true and sure
now I see with raging disgrace
no gratitude, just loss of face

today in my copse, in my woods
stumbled over what once was good
heard the breathing, laboring, deep
shot of hunter allowed bleeding to seep

young doe struck, wounded, in dread
to allay her misery, shot her, dead
now I know why a camera's click
should hunt the woods of the quick

no, a huntress I shall never be
not when my camera is my poetry
and in the silence, hear me cry
as fades to black this doe's soft eye

Kari love, outstandingly written, so truly utterly wonderful, and do I love this. Of course, I always do love, as I've said always you have beauty to write and show to us each and every one.
Amazingly beautiful love, it truly is.
Take care

A sad piece, but beautifully composed.  Wonderful writing.

Thank you all...if a hunter is going to do his job...he should do it all the way...but what was even worse was the violation of our property as it is posted clearly, distinctly, and in numerous areas "No Hunting"...

better yet...go to the grocery store...

Upon the shadows of insecurity
hidden behind prowler's mask
lies the man of paper knigthood
afraid of the answers ...
         if he chose to ask

Weapons drawn against innocense
to bring him false manhood
bearing the torment of fear
from a bullet of costume ...
        to be understood

Sorry, but this one really hit home to me and it just came out.  I hate to see shameless acts of violence especially when it is used to hide the insecurities of the one bearing the weapon.  I don't hunt and have nothing against those that do it for food (as long as it is done legally) but those who do it for sport are to me the weakest of us humans.  Wonderful write and full of much emotion.

I am glad that there are others who feel as I do...proper hunting is one thing...

but ego does not belong in my pastures that are a refuge for all...

for all who have read, and understood, you, then, are the poet true...

thank you...

what a wonderful poem you have penned here..i agree with you wholeheartedly...hunting has never been up there on my list of fun things to do..and i dont like the idea of hunting for sport..just to pin a trophy on their wall after making the poor animal suffer...that just makes me want to spit!  and i dont even know how to spit...

hmm..sorry..i couldve just said..i agree..

great write..i'd like to put this on posterboard and put it on sticks..stick it in the ground all over the woods........

ok..i'm done..sorry...
