She borrows but returns tenfold

she says
     "people don't talk to
          me anymore
'cause I'm always
          taking their lines"

and like a spirit of ghost
          she sweeps in
                       sweeps up
                                  sweeps away

and I find myself
searching, searching for
           my line
a snippet of thought
                       a line of pain
a gesture gained

and I turn the page

there they are…

four or five or six words
         strung together in a weave
                  such as I cannot
believe

those words stemmed from
          my thoughts

and now they have been wrought
with mystery and magic
                                     and music

by her pen…

she is remarkable and funny
            downright seriously gifted
                       I don't know the all
                                             of her
or the wheres and whys and
                                    hows of her

I just know

she borrows my words
                 and returns them, tenfold.

She does -
   and does it so well
and in return
   inspires us
(and you in particular)
   to write new beautiful words

Karilea ~ Absolutely! ~ When words can bring inspiration, how wonderful to see them rearranged and brought back to us.  Beautiful piece.  Bonnie

Ya know - You're absolutely right... She does that to me all the time - "Can I use those words?" says she... Then - I see them in her work - sounding much more eloquent than I ever did... Nice tribute, my friend...

Sunshine, what a lovely poem!   It would be hard for anyone to return this tenfold!

Sunshine,
what a lovely write, so well done. I could be a borrower if I wasn't such a thief, then you could write about me in such glowing terms.

Write on

sometimes going to the library is just like grinning because you get to borrow the book, but you also get to give it back and get another one...... just a thought
