PLease forgive my absence here all..... I have been struck with a condition called Gout which has inflamed my right wrist and is a very painful ordeal.
While I was down with this condition and on medication an old girlfriend of mine paid me a visit to talk about her son's drug problem. Well, after listening to her I began to realize what she was up against. I tried to comfort her and told her that I had written a poem about cocaine and that I would email it to her and she could show it to her son. I knew it wouldn't change him but every little bit helps.....this was written three years ago for an old friend that was losing him self on this demonic substance.....here goes!.......ethome

Here and there bold merchants bear
their goods to pigeon beaks.
The smuggled secrets hidden there
bring sugar ships their grease.

Clouds of dark that cloak the heart
and shadow lip loss out of form
turn to cotton candy art
when Captain Snow sails the horn.

The opening night, whispered hype,
center stage awaits, it's time,
the curtain drawn, the subtle lights
the armored heart to fly.

Flush cheeks and answered color,
stepping out before the crowd,
the burst of fashion flutter
the hands to make one proud.

The tragic conversation
the rows of spiral stairways.
A poet's sphere sagacious here
the journey back as always.

Backstage the mood dispenses,
the soul returns to hide.
And in the gloom defenseless
small voices cry for lines.

Under the skies wide oceans
high in the morning
small voices cry for lines.

Amazing that artists [of any nature] surpass their own gifts and fame most often brings their ruin and always, always it seems that drugs are involved...

I hope your friend's son listens...but either way, you offered your hand and your heart and sometimes, my friend, that is all we can do...

for responsibility lies with each of us...

P T love, oh that is sooooooo painful, I hope the treatment sorts it out. And the sooner the better love, not just for you although that too, for us, we miss our P T. I miss my P T. This is as are all of yours truly wonderful, you explain in a way that others can comprehend the tragedy of this, be it an addiction to cocain or any other substance. Utterly wonderful piece from you, and you never fail me to give me the picture I need.
Thank you love and as always I really and truly mean it, utterly!
Take care love

Good poem. The tragedy of addiction is overwhelming. If the end result was seen before the hand of darkness closes in, I wonder how many would search for a way of escape... I have lost someone dear to my heart, because of drugs, so I can relate.
Sending prayers for your friend.
Hugs to you for careing.

I too hope you are feeling better! And want to commend you on this poem. Addiction is tragic - when someone seeks an unnatural escape from life, it usually ends in tragedy. Let's hope your friend's son finds his way out before that happens.

Oh ethome my heart goes out to your friend, drugs are such a problem and the thing is that once they are hooked it's a long road back to where they came from....please let her know that I will be keeping her and her son in my prayers as I know first hand what drugs can do to a young person.

THis poem cuts to the core. What a trgedy that so many young artists fall into dugs. They have so much to give. I have had addiction in my family and know that it hurts everyone. I wish your friend well.
