"goodbye...hello?"

today you called me completely out of the blue
after three years of not being in touch
i wasn't sure what to say to you

but the conversation suprisingly was like old times
and even when i realized i should end the call
i didn't want to and wasn't sure why

perhaps its because it reminded me of the friendship we had
and thinking about how we lost it
made me suddenly feel quite sad

you moved miles away and started another life
time and distance drove us apart
you became both a mother and a wife

your departure caused me a lot of pain
and though i never got to say
i'd like you to know i wish you had never gone away

a goodbye has turned into hello now and i'm not sure what to do
i wish i had more answers
seems i haven't a clue

you said that you have missed me and the reason for your call
but something not said was left lingering
and it make me question was that all

we chatted about this and that
and it was as though no time had past
and at the end of our call, it was amazing to me how much time had past

you have asked me to call again
but part of me is afraid to
just wanted you to know i truly have missed you

Hey, I think this was great...you should make  sure she sees it.  Make it happen, me friend, you'll both probably be happier for it.

Beautiful write - true friends don't come along often in life.....hold on to the good ones for you never know when life deals you unexpected twists and a true friend will be there when you need her the most.

Aimster, a very special friend of mine recently moved far away and it's going to be difficult to keep in touch, but your wonderful poem gave me inspiration. Now I know that as our bond is so strong we can make our friendship work. Thank you for this truly inspiring write. I hope you keep hold of your friend...life is never as good without those special ones. Many hugs to you,
Becky.

Aimster,

It has been my belief not to question the whys of life, but to enjoy them.  She is back now and perhaps your friendship will be too.  This was touching my friend.

What a lovely portrayal of a lost friendship found once again. So many emotions, so much time past ... you've expressed this so well Amy, very nicely written!

Best wishes,
/Kit

A while ago I hadn't seen a special friend of mine for almost two years...when we finally got together again the relationship was exactly the same as if I had never left...some are like that and some good ridance...James

Aim,
This truly touched me.  It takes everything you have not to say what you feel, at the time of the call, and it haunts you long after you've hung up. A sad and wonderful poem.  Best of luck to you.
