Louder than wind through trees
does each moment pass,
imprisoning whispers from lips
(so soft) to cause envy in the clouds
though there are none.

Each day a blister,
unrelenting sun,
crack the earth and settle dust
on blades of grass
now wilting in the heat.

No respite from the air
which you can taste with the tongue,
cracked as the ground
which once was fertile:

Too many feet
attatched to too much man,
Louder than the ocean,
tasting the sand.
