(Martie's "Melting Time" deserves credit for inspiring this)

It's cold outside, still the chill creeps through
Insidiously crawling up my calves
I could see crystal spores growing
On the periwinkle blue of the window

As your vision filled the room
Your warmth stole beneath the quilt
Crackled in the radiator
Nailed my shivers to the sheets

Your diaphanous eyes wrapped mine
In curacao blue
Crystal glasses chimed hellos
As lips sipped merlot smiles
The thermostat resigned
In grateful submission
To abandoned wine

I held your love totally encompassed,
A baby orchid in cupped hands
As your arms locked mine
And lips closed night on my eyes

This dream of passionate peace
Poured over me as emollient
Turning day to twilight
Enbalming darkness beyond understanding

In recumbent clouds
Whispers caressed the air
As securely two floated
Through hours of nestled sleep
To downy day's soft alarm

Thus long intervals of whispered sweetness
Gently held in twined limbs
Were interspersed with smoldering fires
Fueling volcanic eruptions
Tectonic plate shifts
As sun and moon chased each other
Across our windows

At sometime I got up
Was it dark or light
I think I wondered
Was this marvelous alchemy
your doing, mine, or ours

Such wonderful synergy
Serendipitous, confounding
Returned to your opening eyes
We greeted more waking love
Finally ending with thoughts of food

I cannot pick a particular line...it all crept into my mind and allowed me to feel the crackling of the radiator, and I could smell the wine...and feel the quilt...

love it!

Bill--If my poem inspired you...I am pleased...amazing isn't it, how such a cold thing like snow...could inspire this beautiful warm poem you have written.

a most wonderful grouping of words, Sir Wilfred

Wilfred~
She certainly wrapped you in a quilt of inspiration !

This is just lovely.
Your thoughts complement the style.

'I could see crystal spores growing
On the periwinkle blue of the window'

That would sure send me burrowing under a quilt !
Wonderfully done, my friend.

Marge -
Thanks thrice -For responding, and saying such nice words AND (I'll publically add my thanks for letting me know I used a word I didn't intend instead of "emollient".) I'm not too proud to admit my mistake or express my thanks for letting me correct this gaff (foolish talk - nonsense) and btw - my 'new' dictionary did not have 'emollient' - guess I need a better one. ~G~
You're an angel in more ways than one. (sheesh - and I must proof read more carefully - this reply almost went in with 'typos' too)
