I've counted day's worth
of endless moments.
Seconds of lingering dark.
Weeks drawn out,
from the lack of your words.
Waiting,
in emptiness stark.

I've lain alone,
in the echoing black,
remembering
a gesture,
that would bring you back
for the moment
to me.
A reverie.

I've tested spirit,
patience faith.
used all I've ever known,
Turned away thoughts
that 'twas forever
from my side
you had gone.

And lain yet again,
in the echoing black,
remembering
a gesture
that would bring you back
to me.
A reverie.

I've imagined with joy
how my heart would jump
when again I saw your face.
I've wondered if my
arms would remember
when again, you took
your place.

I need not lay again
in the echoing black
remembering
a gesture
that would bring you back
to me.
No reverie.

You are home.
Did I tell you,
I love you.

I'd rather be known as a fool with a heart, than be known as a heartless fool. <slh>

Wow........I loved the ending to this one.  Nuff said I am sure.  I didn't know where it was going to end as I was reading it but I am happy it ended the way it did.  Stunning format and flow.  I enjoyed greatly.

Once again, Mark...I was playing with meter and flow.   And for the record...I knew where it was going from the beginning! Thanks for the lookover!~~~Sandi
