desert flower looking for rain

My True North

I've gone my whole life looking
for a point in the horizon that
I could call home.
I've trusted in my heart, believed
in my dreams and wished on stars.

I've hushed the nay sayers
quieted the rowdy, pressed my
finger gently to the lips of those
who have loved, and let go

And I've found myself wrapped
up in cotton memories, scented
with promises and faith

I've looked for tomorrow, in
all of my yesterdays, heard
your voice in every song
Felt your touch while the
sun danced against my skin

Caressed your breath in
the wind, traced your
heartbeat through your
words ... and tonight
I miss you so much

I use my tears to
write our names
upon...
    my thighs

quiet in the eyes of most
but deep,
swift and full of life

This is one of the most poignant, beautiful poems I have read in a long time.

"pressed my
finger gently to the lips of those
who have loved, let go"

This one is so special I cannot tell you, thank you for sharing this with me and everyone!

I am glad Dixie found this one...

I am saving it.
