Hello, Darkness
Virginia Salter

hello, darkness
here you are again
how much time do you plan to spend
will you go out when I come in
or simply follow me
urging me to sin
luring me, tantalizing me
in your quiet, deceptive way
as you steal into the corners, making shadows deep and bold
as you creep into the crevices, magnifying cold
as you whisper, mocking tenderness,
and pull and tug at me
as you promise great adventures in the deep abyss’ sea
court, slither, tempt with caresses strong and chill
beguile with your touches, enchant with breezes from the hill
reel me in as a serpent on the prowl
rob me of wisdom, an antithesis of owl
yet just before you’ve swept me away with all your inviting charms
the Light lifts me in His tender, loving arms
cradles me, restores me to whom I’m called to be
washes away all of you, oh, darkness as far as eyes can see
so be gone with, oh, Lucifer, oh, evil side of time
for the Light of His love, shall help me soar to a grand and higher climb

V,
Beguiling indeed!  The mystery, the hidden, the unknown!

thanks, krawdad!  Tis sad that darkness can be so beguiling, isn't it?  Sometimes so difficult to abstain from its draw.

Spiritually uplifting and inspiring. Nicely written out.
