And Change Falls On Me

We sit together, silently,
under the old oak tree
where leaves, baked
by the hot summer sun,
crisply twirl to the ground
in Autumn splendor.

I watch them fall, mesmerized
by the cyclic nature
of the world;
knowing that the death Winter brings
is but an intermission
awaiting the beauty of Spring.

Now, as we rise,
arm in arm,
hopes springs eternal
from my scorched heart
like tulips through blankets of cotton snow;
and I breathe a sigh
to the wonder of change.

What lies behind us and lies before us are small matters compaired to what lies within us.

Hoot--this is touching, and I have always found your style to be tenderly endearing...lovely and thoughtful, as always.

"I breathe a sigh
to the wonder of change."
As I look out at our 1st snow - covering the blemishes of fall - awaiting spring's first croci - I can only say 'thank you' for this.

And this is why change is measured in full circle because it is never ending.  This was a wonderful visual and mental stimulus of a read and I applaud you much for reaching so deep into this.

Ruth,

Lovely writing my friend.  I hope the upcoming changes in your life will bring you the happiness you so much deserve to have.  This was warm as a summer breeze.

As soon as I began reading, I could hear the words being read to me.  That is a good sign!
