She cried to her son,
"Your father is dead
For though he is living
He’s lost in his head"

She felt so helpless
To go on from there
A soft sweet lady
Her heart in despair

There were good times
The love and the laughter
I see her there crying
Then dying soon after

God works the ways
But I wish I could see
Something besides
Her desperate plea

Two years went by
On the old front walk
Where grandma once played
She failed in her talk

She had a weak heart
For one to be sad
She outlived her child
She's all Grandpa had

Many years passed
Now adrift for a time
They were seldom apart
A grief more than mine

Baseball games fading
The big paper route
We did things together
Now Dad I'm without

I know Heaven’s real
All up there together
When my grampa is gone
I'll cut the last tether

When my mind is empty
Pictures all burned
Entrenched is a hope
Recall what I've learned

Dad, I can see you
The way you should be
Running in a meadow
Your mind is now free

Mom, you greet him
With a great big kiss
God works the ways
What could be missed?

Grandma, child listens
Your heart is now strong
Grandpa be with you
Whisper not long

To you, my family surround
In heaven and heaven bound
What you have thus taught me
In a new life be found

Peace and Love,
Your Son

My family I left behind

Grandma: Kathleen Grant  6-14-2? to 10-29-99
Grandpa: Bernard Grant 2-6-2? to present
Mom: Vicki Fisher 5-21-48 to 2-11-97
Dad: James Fisher 11-17-36 to 1-3-01

Their legacy besides me

Chandler Grant Burns 4-9-99
Grandma got to see him walk
Mom never knew him
Dad I think understood who he was
My grandpa is gonna take him fishing someday.

WALT, I have no words to express how your poem has touched my heart...
Dear friend, you shine bright in this one as the heavens above are mirrored from within your kind heart...

Having lost my Dad sometime ago- I can only offer the thought that though our loss is great we must remember someday all and more will be gained.

so sorry my friend for the loss of your

soul in this piece and it was felt deeply
here.  Take care of you my friend~

you have touched a chord in my heart...don't let anyone tell you it gets easier, the missing...but what does happen is you find all the words to write, as a poet, to help fill the emptiness and to say all that was meant to be said and never had a chance to..and I do believe...up above...dad's everywhere are looking down upon their children and their childrens children and are  smiling with the knowledge that you/they will go on..and you will survive holding them dear to your heart...

Walt, you and your family will be in my prayers. I'm so sorry about your dad, but like you said he is with your mom and grandma now and no one can help but be happy in heaven. God bless you.

Walt,
I'm truly sorry to hear this. This poem must have been a heartwrenching thing to write, but I know it must have helped ease a little pain.  My prayers are with you and your family through your time of loss.  (((HUGS)))

Can I be your willful breeze,
