A door closes for a friend.
To respect your need to be alone, it had to end.

Will another one open again someday?
It goes beyond me to know or say.

For now to have left it open, only personified my personal greed.
For to honor you, you have a right to need.

A space in your life with which to grow.
And probably have to admit this is why I loved you so.

To have closed a door.
To have admired you beyond, and more.

And it was something that had to be.
Yet, know I hold a special place in my heart, and love you beyond eternity.

Gemini.....
How well you describe one of the realities of love......that we sometimes have to love enough to let go.  Just remember that the door may be closed, but it's not locked!
Great poem, my friend!!

Write on!

Very well done! I know that curbing those deep heartfelt emotions isn't easy, but the necessity of it becomes a kindness from another view...you expressed this so well!

"...you have a right to need."

ouch..it does hurt so much to let go of someone you most love..and truly, i dont think you have to let go completely--you can keep them in the depths of your heart...but necessary all the same, to let them shut the door as they walk away--if that is indeed what they need...

*and i believe IRISH left you a most exsquisite reply....(and if thats spelled wrong..my dictionary's packed away!...) i may have to remember that one myself....  *

great write friend..very big lot of love in this one...

hugs, g

The title caught my eye... for my lazy muse has been teasing me with (unfortunately unconnected) thoughts of closed doors. *S* I don't know if that particular poem will ever be written (for I'm lazier than that snoozing muse and refuse to WORK at it... I want her to connect the dots for me *G*) but I'm sure glad yours was completed... well done! *S*
