Vaudeville
By: Noah Eaton
1/1/01

I stand here in Harvest Lane, my neck of the wood
Though all around me, it much rather feels like the end of me
I would leave this place if I could
But in the meantime, I guess I’ll have to make the best of this inquiry

Half-baked under this big top and parched
With the loneliness I feel here, marooned with it’s cold strep-throat
I just stay home as I let the others perform their workaday march
Avoid being handled like a puppet dangling by the strings, whereas I would choke

I will stand my ground now, outside of these fairgrounds
I play my own cards, aside from the games of the harlequins
When I grow up, I will advance from this crapehanger’s paradise with leaps and bounds
Staying at home safe with my family, and later move to a place where people are kind and patient

While I know that day will soon come, I still wait, holding my ticket
Standing on the flight deck of my dreams, looking forward to finding a better place
If I look real hard, I thought I could see my jet making way down the landing strip
But I’m not going to worry about it, as long as I’m home sweet home, where I’m forever safe!

YOU ARE ALL THE BEST FRIENDS I’VE EVER HAD, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!!

Thanks for the friendship Noah! This is so good I really like the soul searching picture you've painted and the longing, yearning look into the future....good stuff!!

Powerful read, excellent poem, loved this, take care.

It's in your eyes a fire that's wild and glorious
Unhibited, unfinished in everything I do Let the morning rise like our hearts desire" whipping boy
