desert flower looking for rain

Covered Buttons

twenty years ago~
she wore a ten dollar
dress and borrowed shoes
and the only flowers
in the room were from a
previous ceremony
...a funeral

hindsight~
a fitting beginning to
a life with hells demon
where the fire burned
her from the inside
out

yesterday~
she buried the demon
took the bandages off
and found her heart
had been encased in
ice

so she starting sharing
her little girl dreams
in midnight conversations
with Luna, of a day planned
long ago

with Italian silk and antique
lace and covered buttons down
the back. Tiny white lights and
a candlelit room...romance
beyond her touch
still filling all her dreams

today and tomorrow~
now blending together
as she no longer talks with
Luna of unfinished wishes

whispers are carried on
an emerald zephyr to blanket
his sapphire dreams

while he waits in front
of a stone fireplace
in a soft glowing candlelit
room

they join their tomorrow's
not with Italian silk, antique
lace or covered buttons
down the back ...

but with vows from the heart
and lilies and white carnations
    ....in hand

"...I am a river in winter,
quiet in the eyes of most
but deep,
swift and full of life
to one, lucky enough to fall through the ice.

Beautifully written Snow. I can't help but feeling a sense of contentment in the words you have written. Life can begin again out of death.  I love your signiture quote.

If a dream touches us, it exists to us as anything else that touches us.
