My Hearts Sweet Liberty

In starlight there's a special quality, it cast an ethereal light
Which is the reason love comes calling on those starlit nights
Especially when the moon is new the stars sparkle is clear to see
Love is arrayed in garments that beckon calling come home to me
And my foolish heart follows her right into this, her perilous cage
Where my captive heart, then her lost freedom bewails in rage
Your lovers eyes tell me that I should submit in meek humility
And I almost believe that I won't regret my souls sweet liberty

For if my soul were here alone the agony would still my heart
And my spirit and my soul would be forever ripped open, apart
But while you stay within my sight I can just bare this dreadful pain
Except I know soon my heart will either die or else she'll go insane
For those lies that your eyes promised are now coming on home
The battalions of my heart are as insubstantial as the sea foam
I've never had any defenses my spirit could never bar her door
And now she's stuck in the ocean and it's a long way to shore

But how to spring this deadly and treacherous trap to set me free
And do I really want to if it means that alone again I will then be
If you release me from this I'll always come back to sit in your sun
My love and heart will tease yours, they will have such bright fun
But held here eternally struggling against these chains that restrain
I'll constantly call and beg for freedom, plead to fly high once again
For if I hadn't walked blindly into loves cage you'd not now hold me
And I would walk beside you in freedom and in love for all eternity

Beautiful thoughts Marsha! They just poured out of your heart. I really enjoyed the final part and the reason for your heart's sweet liberty.......

this is a take off of an old cliche .................
"you can't keep your heart and lose it too"
