The sidewinder circles my head,
as its coils tighten stealing the
fading hours.
The parched leather
noose beats
down keeping me
in constant alert. Even
here in the dead of night
there is no dust, no
gentle pillow talk or lullabies.
Tangled in predictability;
the clock counts down to decay.
I am naked, restless as the Sahara
damned to know my barrenness,
as my horizon, scorched empty
of any bacteria
but me.
Why wouldn't something grow?
A ugly weed
or even an weak egg,
some sterile mystery
to stir my appetite?

And here on the cliff,
consumed by the fire of lust twice twisted
on the realm of decay, I down my drink --

Satin stained by lace
dressed in black on a mesh background.

Who would have imagined
my leathered skin would be
in a noose
tight
controlled
by you?

Who would have imagined
my thirst would have led me
to the desert?
I'm parched.
If you haven't abandoned
the flame, let me drink you in.
Hours are fading.
I am recoiled, rejoicing,
blending in the twist of all of it.

You are my sidewinder --
my heavy swinging blow from the side
my small desert rattlesnake
thrusting your body diagonally forward.

I'm lost in the pattern
of you which I can't follow.

Jade eyed, my insomniac spectre
has lost the fight, gone back to hell,
and left me with you instead.
Still when you hold me like this
I am a child again
safe
in candy dreams
not the solitude of the adult carousel,
you are my pretty sidewinder  smothering and soothing.

I cannot say enough about this.  Yes, I see both of you in this, such powerful words
and life is not only beautiful but unfortunately, ugly as well.

I tend to write only of the beauty but you know at times, this is needed.
This is exceptional writing.
I'm very impressed.

Loud applause here!! There are writers who compliment each other very well. In rhyme, I feel that way writing with Kit. In free verse with powerful metaphors, you two are a perfect match. I would love to see more of this wonderful collaberation
