The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2000-12-30 09:10 PM

And so as I look back
at misplaced dreams
and fantasies of old love
renewed,
I hold ever close
the hope of unity
that once bonded us to
eachother
as though we were within
the same cocoon.
Yet knowing this
the hope fades daily,
as your life goes on to other
butterflies,
leaving behind
the one who most gloried in your colours.
I look back at years of certain yearning
grown to encompass my heart
in the silken strands of your need
and now I know
that looking forward
is the only truth
remaining
and I sadly say goodbye
with the unwarranted thought
that we may
in this next year, this new year,
another millenium,
say hello again.

Sandra,
You showed him colors that no one ever will in the same way you did. A beautiful masterpeice, from a heart that will rise again to that kind of love. That is my wish for you in the new year.
      Love you, Elise

There is much beauty in sadness when it composed with feeling.  Wonderful poetry, well written and expressed.
