What Wicked Thing Virginia Salter it was a dank and wormy day thunder applauded the hour; rolled, rumbled, crashed as lightning flashed photos neath ebony skies in the distance a painful howl intruded every hair on his arm stood at attention his skin crawled with anxiety as its eeriness crept from toes to head cats in his domicile rose up on haunches peered into the unknown abyss of darkened skies each ear cocked to hear what wicked thing prowled the day “Flash” another bolt raised the dog upright as all creatures awaited nightfall and what might lurk beyond the door. . . © October 27, 2000 |
