She's practical and caring
With eraser in her hand
And when she teaches poetry
She's always in command

Her blithe and shining spirit
Is captured now and then
In the oddest moments
Like when she takes up paper, pen

Her humor is a constant
She writes with passion rare
In her every action
she shows us tender care

she's soft and very placid
and calls the chicks to roost
making them quite orderly
as she offers them a boost

She never is outspoken
That's simply not her way
And yet she brings firm order
To the passions' brood at play

Her muse is esoteric
Her pen is always full
When she writes her managed language
Provides a strong emotion's pull

This is our Nan who mothers
All under her wing
Kind to all and fair to others
For Nan's touch can make us sing

Nan acts the part of brood mother
Never pulling tight the reins
Never hopes to dampen courage
Always there to hear our strains

Though Nan is not a peacock dear
What would we do without her here.

Sunshine,
thanks for responding to my Nan tribute.

Marge, well what's a home without the feeling of the nest. Warm, cosy and controlled. With Nan as brood mother how can we go wrong?

Be well
Kethry

Thanks so much, Kethry - It's an honor to be seen through your eyes...

... and I had always seen myself like this... spindly legged & fork-tailed... hmmm... Where's that mirror again???...

Sven,
thank you so much for your kind words.

Charisma,
always a pleasure when you drop by.

Balladeer,
yes she is one heck of a human being.

Athena4,
thanks for stopping by to pay your tribute to Nan. She's something, yeah!

Nan,
you joke, but I used to raise chickens I know how hard it is to get the chicks moving in the right direction. I also know the self sacrifice a mother hen makes for the chicks. So don't you go telling me I wrote this because of how you look. I won't believe it! Besides I've never seen your forked tail. The skinny legs might be true, but if so it matches the rest of you.

Be well
Kethry
