The Road Or The Sanctuary

That road ahead may be full of rocks, big holes and fallen trees
And the wind may be howling when it was once just a soft breeze
But here within my heart, this sancutary, there's true peace and calm
You'll find tranquillity here and your soul will be soothed by balm
Don't look at that journey ahead, come take your ease here with me
You can't go travelling if you don't have enough light for you to see
Everyone needs a purpose and a certain destination in their mind
First ask yourself do you really want whatever it is you'll surely find

Sometimes we look without being sure of what it is we seek
But this lack of vision, lack of objective, can make us feel weak
I'm really not trying to hold you back from making your own way
Remember that here is a sanctuary I'll hear all you have to say
If you feel lost and lonely then reach out and touch those near by
You have wings but I understand that you've forgotten you can fly
Here you can practice without falling too far and also much too fast
Here in this sanctuary you can find a love, something that will last

If you ask yourself why I'm willing to do this, to be here for you
I'll tell you quite simply and honestly that I am in love with you
I've made my personal pilgrimage and found the treasure I sought
And I know peace is mine now and I'm happier than I ever thought
For love is never a burden it releases the spirit and revives the heart
It is branded deep within me, for all eternity it will be of me a part
Maybe one day you'll look at me and see a lover and a close friend
That will be the signal for me that your heart is now on the mend

You know Marsha you love this style and every time I read your words I really feel like I'm listening to a close friend talk with such a soothing and open manner. Your poetry is very conversational in it's beauty and bears the strength of a loyal and devoted heart... good stuff kiddo and I got to say I'm glad for you to be happy in your relationship of love, the words that made this poem special.....ethome

Marsha~
'If you feel lost and lonely then reach out and touch those near by'

We poets do that so well.
Nicely written, poet dear.

'Deer love, and some times they don't want to hear those words they want to throw themselves onto the rocks that will tear them apart. C'est la vie, love that's all I can say, I am that I am, I could no more change and alter that than I could pick up a mountain or empty the seas. All I can say is I am here
Thanks love,
