Behold my love and friendship, merging into one It was difficult the other times, and now it’s just begun I tried to forget the feelings I had for you before And now, it has all come back to me and more You say you’ve changed from what you were before You’ve left that time, you say, and behind you slammed the door Giving your life to God, nothing like you were before And for all of these great changes, I only love you more Sometimes you try to fight it, but in the end you lose You go out with other people, but only your heart can choose It’s chosen you, my best friend, and I don’t want to kill Our friendship that nothing can replace, but my heart won’t be still You told me about your girls, your hopes and your dreams When anyone rejected you, I sewed together your seams You did the same for me, to my sad heart you sung And you knew every secret of my heart… except for one I’m sure you had suspicions when I looked into your eyes Strong feelings like these can never be disguised I always calmed your feelings, though, denying any love Although I pray for you every night to God above I know I don’t deserve your love, no matter how I try To earn you love by changing, I still sit down and cry Because I know that I can never have you in my arms I know I will never be the target of your charms In spite of this, there’s no one I’d rather talk to than you Or look into any other eyes than yours of dark blue Maybe someday the world will change, and we can be together Until then, I’ll be your friend… always and forever "Where there is great love there are always miracles" -Cather "Love heals everything, and love is all there is"- Zukav |

what a poem, and it held so many feelings for me. I know that friends and loves sometimes don't mix, but believe me, nothing is more precious than being and having a friend who will never leave no matter what. I hope that is the person in the poems situation if this is non-fiction. loved it. |

This poem really says so much and goes through those emotional changes so openly... I just have to say it's a marvelous piece of writing....to go back is so hard but you are being so reflective and kind about it... good work!......ethome |
