(Inspired by a recent poem posted here - can anyone guess?   writer can't guess  it's been fun - may do it again)

In the inner me
I'm wrapped in thoughts of you
I thought to write
Of other things
Things mundane that fill my days
But you cloud my mind like haze

Thoughts of weather
Sun or stars
Mountains or the beach
Joys I felt before I had a clue
I'd write and satisfy
My need to pen
And let me in
This forum
Where I met you

But then the inner me spoke up
I know not how or when
A smile of you
Your sparkling eyes
Your words of shining beauty
Once more the page had words I penned
All you - it was my duty

I smiled and read the words I wrote
For everything was there
Sun and stars
Mountains, the beach
You were in every scene
Beauty graced the tawdry sand
Far beyond my reach

Today I read your words again
Watched them float up off the page
Wisdom, love, a heart of gold
With the splendor of a sage
I felt your peace, saw candles burning,
Saw eyes sparkling in their glow
In sunlight bright, in starlight's shine
'T'were yours certain did I know

So you come to me again
And I wonder why it's me
Will you remain a figment
Or persist - not let me be
I want to read my poem to you
Breathe it softly in your ear
Seal it in with gentle kiss
Wet the glue with loving tear

When you come with furrowed brow
Can I lose those muscles tense
Will you let my gentle hands
Chase off those sad events
Or when the shower's tangled curls
Can I blow, comb out the strands
Give you oh such loving care
You'll know just where I stand

For you're inside the inner me
And residence you've taken
Brightened corners long forlorn
I no longer feel forsaken
So now I seek the inner you
Feel I must return the favor
I want to dust and shine that smile
Let you taste my own sweet flavor

We two our unity confirmed
Our inner beings melded
No sorrow, want will go unheard
Our two hearts will be welded
No cries, goodbyes, no nor sighs
Forever love will bind us
Lasting hugs and sealing kisses
All there to remind us

And so I ask again of you
The inner you to join me
Come fill my dreams
Come fill my schemes
We’ll be as one forever
We’ll walk that aisle
Wear great big smiles
And never will we sever

Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes.

'twould your sweet dream
come to the scene
of beach and moon and stars
she would know
this inner glow
and certainly of who you are

you spill forth this love, sweet love
and she shall read your heart
know then that your sweet dream
from your side 'twont part

Ah Bill, this is lovely...
she will adore it...

To join the inner you would be to look deep in your eyes
And find the man whose soul became the words I recognize
To join the inner you would be to bathe in pleasure sun
For you there is no half way mark, your love is all or none

To follow in your poetry is following your words
And songs of love intrinsic as a pair of loving birds
Unspoken and unwritten words would be cast to the wind
And deeds would then express the thoughts you’ve harbored deep within

If deeds cannot portay the poet, only touch and feel
Can well express what’s in your heart, the truth, the self, the real
In openess and beauty you have let a spirit through
To please your heart in rapture and to join the inner you

Just responding in verse as you did to my poem
You have written a beautiful poem, and she will cherish it, for sure.

GreenEyes-
You do wonders for my self esteem - Thank You

Karilea-
I'm doubly thrilled when someone responds poetically - This is beautiful and deserves independent posting

Elizabeth S-
I should have known known - I'd get 'tit for tat' but your poetry is a direct response to my writing - and not what I wrote - - a new challenge for my next response to you   Thank you

Martie-
You- and Karilea - and others are all so sure about "she" - yet no one attempts a guess at my source of inspiration for the writing context. (different from the 'who') - oh well - I won't 'preface' in the future
Thank you

Denise-
Thank you - I'm glad I could please

Sharon-
A response from a moderator of your caliber - is always doubly gratifying - Thank you

Ah Mr. Yeats, to actually guess at the person behind the inspiration would be like trying to dress a muse, yes? Wouldn't we all rather enjoy watching her provide you with the inspiration as it flows from your pen? Besides, I would hate to guess wrong! LOL...have a simply wonderful day...and smile!

Bill I have to agree with Karilea. I wouldn't want to wager a guess. However, the poem is beautifully written and is so full of love and beseeching kindness...wonderful inner concert going on there...and the song is uplifting to say the least....ethome
