Still & Falling

...and the radio
plays another
melancholy tune

...one that she used
sing for him, when
his hands pressed
against the small
of her back, and
her lips would brush
his neck, leaving
vanilla kisses lingering
after she unfolded
herself from him

...and the
wine begins
to numb the
days that have
passed since he
sealed her fate
in one of those
time standing still
moments, when
all you can do is
hold on to the edge
and pray, he doesn't
take you over with him

...but the numbing
is only skin deep
and no one is
there to stop
the trembling
when the fears
return

...and no one answers
to her tortured soul
reaching across miles
of distance, sand and
water, filling up the space in which
her heart used to be

...who catches the
tears she was
told would never
come when you
were truly loved
before her lungs
start to cave and she
no longer breaths

...and who will
replace the shattered
heart of a
woman that
finally learned
to let go
and believe

while she looks to
the horizon
waiting for his
silhouette
listening for the
call...
      of the wolf

"...I am a river in winter,
quiet in the eyes of most
but deep,
swift and full of life
to one, lucky enough to fall through the ice.

Snow~
This is such a lovely render.

'and her lips would brush
his neck, leaving
vanilla kisses lingering
after she unfolded
herself from him'

So delicately done.
